Are you a good person? Here’s a quick test: how’s your tongue? Are you using it to encourage, edify, and bless others? Does your conversation reflect goodness, grace, mercy, and all those virtues we know characterize a godly life? While this morning’s passage serves as an apt diagnostic of how our speech can reveal the depths of what resides in our inmost being, I believe there’s a Gospel application that brings us more hope and comfort. Jesus was in the heart of the earth for 3 days…He is the Word of God, He is the only Good Man…He is our treasure. At the right time, God brought Him forth and declared our salvation. “You are My Son, this day have I begotten you”.
