A Brief Thanksgiving Day Reflection | Psalm 6:5

Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave?

Psalm 6:5

The psalmist wonders (rhetorically) who will give thanks to God among the dead. He reasons that death will make it impossible to praise the true and living God. The irony of the gospel though is that we have a better death that makes us thankful…that produces thanksgiving apart from anything we do or will to do. By grace God has literally made us thankful creatures. Our death with Christ has set us free from the thankless Old Adam, so we can sing, “I thank God through Christ Jesus our Lord…there is therefore now no condemnation…”

It is Finished
